About

Zaroob, literally translates to "small alley". It is a concept which was inspired by the traditional street food vendors found around the Levant region. Zaroob captures the best and most authentic aspects of wholesome, simple cooking and brings the atmosphere of a theatrics ambiance and the history of Arab street food to a modern audience.
The live cooking stations, open kitchens and a variety of decoration from the Arab world so that diners can enjoy the sights, sounds and smells that are experienced when walking through a traditional street or market in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine and Egypt. The outside terrace also provides the perfect dining space during the cooler seasons.
Zaroob stands out from other restaurants in the area due to its eye catching unique design and interior decor. People will love to come and go because of the relaxed ambiance that Zaroob represents.
The menu appeals to a wide and varied clientele. The traditional dishes that we are offering have been taken from recipes handed down through families from one generation to the next. Oven Baked Manou'she
an authentic wood fired flat bread that is served open or folded with various choices of fillings such as cheese, sumac, za'atar and meat.

Ambiance

Very funky and fun interiors make up for Zaroob, Ibn Battuta. The place is lively and very welcoming. They have an outdoor area where sheesha is served and it's by the funky water bodies in the restaurant area of the China Court. There are quite a few surrounding restaurants but Zaroob will catch your eye first!

Review

Zaroob is unanimous with amazing Arabic food, and the staples. You will always find this place bustling with the regulars which are quite a few! Their menu has remained the same for as long as I can remember, which I appreciate. No surprises, just good food. There may have been one odd time out of maybe 100's where the food disappointed us, but the rest of time it has always been beyond par. This place is kid friendly and accessible easily. Earlier there would be issues of not getting a spot but Zaroob has opened quite a few new branches now, so that issue is thankfully done with.

Food

Came in here with must gusto, with a friend who is an ex-Dubai resident. He insisted and I obliged, hoping my experience would be different from the last time. We ended up ordering our usuals starting with Hummus- which is literally the BEST hummus in town. Their recipe is spectacular and unbeatable. It doesn't make you feel too full or bloated for sure upon consumption. Then we had the labneh-zaatar saj, that was divine! light and crispy and packed with flavor, the saj is made to impress. Again, I feel its unbeatable. Next in line were falafels served with tahina. I did think that maybe the quantity had reduced from the last time, but hey- they were still pretty amazing. We both devoured the food and were absolutely stuffed by now.

Desserts

It would be a shame to come all the way and not have the cheese honey crepe, so hesitantly we ordered that and did not regret it at all! The preparation was not over sweet and was quite light and refreshing!

Verdict

Zaroob never disappoints when it comes to their consistency with food and its quality. They have become quite popular and accessible as they have opened a few branches new Dubai side, towards Marina and Palm. My favourite one is the Ibn Battuta one simply because it is easily accessible and there never a hassle for traffic or parking! They also have an outdoor seating that serves sheesha. The ambiance is just as perfect as the food!

About

Famous in florence and beyond, enoteca pinchiorri is known for offering a feast for the senses. L’enoteca pinchiorri is home to one of the best chefs in the world, and the 3 michelin stars main restaurant in florence has been highly acclaimed since the 1970's.

Thanks to Annie Féolde and Giorgio Pinchiorri’s passion for food and wine, today, Enoteca Pinchiorri is more than a restaurant: an institution of gourmet excellence, a destination for all discerning food, wine and ambiance lovers. The Artisan by Enoteca Pinchiorri is yet another chapter in a rich culinary history. It is a sensational awakening and a celebration of Italian excellence, characterized by delectable dishes, an exhaustive wine selection, elegant interiors and friendly service.

Ambiance

Simple yet posh is what describes the ambiance here the best. The interiors are very rustic with a modern twist. The lampshades have an engraving that is not to be missed, the original chandelier, the intriguing paintings, and the blue walls. The key is in the details here, which can be missed so easily. The place has a calm vibe to it, that makes it perfect for a dinner concentrated evening.

Review

We had the delightful chance of visiting and trying out The Artisan after hearing such rave reviews about it. It is supposed to be the Best Italian restaurant in Dubai, and hence we went with great expectations. Luckily, The Artisan did not disappoint. The food was beyond excellence but the real show stealer were the drinks that just kept getting better. The quantity of the food is perfect and it is very rich in taste. They have a huge variety for the vegetarians, which is awesome! The service should get a special mention here because they know what they are doing. Very kind and very well versed. We had the most beautiful time gorging all the lovely food throughout the night.

Bar

The bar at The Artisan is quite interesting, and can almost become the USP of the place. Their drinks menu is unheard of and very unique. The interiors that make up the bar are exquisite. They also have something called the Wine Flights, which is a wine tasting concept especially popular across Europe where a trio of wines is paired with your food choices too bring out the best flavours in both. The Artisan’s experienced sommeliers are always available to assist.

Beverages

White Mojito:
White wine, Limonocello, Lime Juice, Fresh Mint, Sugar, Soda. Beautifully presented and very refresshing. It was almost 500mls of this cocktail and very very potent! Loved it. Complete value for money.
Kir All’italiana:
Italian prosecco, hibiscus syrup, black current liquor, golden powder. Literal golden powder! Besides being a looker, the drink was fit for a king. Nectarous and of course very potent.
Fiore Di Vino:
White wine, elderflower, cordial, chamomile syrup, lemon juice. My wife ordered this drink, and she could not stop clicking pictures of it. She said it was one of the best cocktails she has had in a very long time. It was sweet and mild and exactly what she needed to wind down with.
Cold Wine Brûlée:
Red wine, Red port, Lemonade, Sugar, Spices, Citruses. I had not had a spiced up drink in a long time, so used this as an opportunity to try their version out which did not disappoint. Loved the presentation and it was the perfect after meal drink for me.

Food

Zuppa di Lenticchie di Castelluccio al Tartufo Nero:
Which is basically a castelluccio Lentil soup with black truffle. It tasted like a warm cup of goodness! The consistency was the soup was perfect, without being too rich. The truffle on top was charming.
Insalata di Carciofi, Asparagi Verdi, Parmigiano e Limone:
Loosely translated into an artichoke and green asparagus salad, parmesan slices and lemon. It was an exquisite presentation with an even better taste! Very light and refreshing, it is a unique way to use artichokes.
Polpo Cotto in Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva, Fagiolini, Patate e Olive Taggiasche:
Slow cooked Octopus in extra virgin olive oil served with fresh green beans, potatoes, and Taggiasca olives. As reluctant as I was to even try it, I am glad I did because it is something very gourmet and exotic. Octopus tends to be really leathery if not cooked well but this one just had an uber crunchy skin and soft like butter meat. Highly recommended.
Fiori di Zucchina Fritti, Farciti di Mozzarella di Bufala e Pesto Toscano:
Fried zucchini flowers stuffed with Buffalo Mozzarella and Tuscan Pesto. The zucchini flowers were batter fried, but they still somehow maintained their integrity in terms of shape and taste. The mozzarella combined with the spicy Tuscan pesto was an amazing combination! A Must try, just that our portion was a tad bit oily.
Agnolotti del Plin Farciti di Zucca Mantovana, Salvia, Burro e Mandorle Tostate, con Fonduta di Parmigiano Reggiano:
Handmade Agnolotti stuffed with Mantova pumpkin, sage, butter and roasted almonds, topped with parmesan fondue. Absolutely divine. This one again surprised us, because of the pumpkin. A very subtle ingredient that made all the difference. The crunch from the almonds was much appreciated.
Unfortunately, we don't really remember the name of this dish, but it is a cheese stuffed ravioli topped with sauce and loads of truffle shavings. What we instantly appreciated was the authenticity, in terms of serving us actual truffle as opposed to just using a flavoring. The dish itself was very rich and fulfilling on a cozy night like this.
Zucchine Fritte:
Fried zucchini strips served as a side. Tasted really good, but were way too oily for our liking. It is definitely a interesting side option, other than a salad or even regular fries.
Branzino in Crosta di Sale con Salsa Vergine:
Sea bass cooked under a salt crust served with virgin sauce. The bass was beautifully cooked which retained a mild flavor, and a very buttery texture. It was really moist and flaky to eat and the salasa on top was enticing and complemented the bass well.

Desserts

The chef prepared this dish especially for us, and we loved it. I speculate about the ingredients and I hope I am right. It was a cannelloni stuffed with orange flavored ricotta or creme, served on a bed of pistachio and chocolate crumbs, with some pistachio creme and maraschino cherries. It was indeed a really good combination of ingredients that summed up to a lovely dessert.
The Real Tiramisu:
This was served in a huge glass bowl, showing off its perfect layers. It was topped by some cocoa and chocolate powder, that kept a balance between sweet and bitter. The mascarpone cream was on point and so was the sponge. It did not weigh down the dessert, but kept it light and airy. Also, the coffee kick was exactly what we needed after the lull caused by those extremely rich main courses and potent cocktails.

Verdict

Our time at The Artisan was somewhat so special, we cannot wait to go back here again. The servers are so super sweet and informative. The food is excellent, well obviously since it has a michellin refernce attached to it, the ambiance is classy and near perfect. There isn't one thing wrong with Artisan, that would hinder your want to go here! If Italian is your thing, and you okay to settle with the best in town, then this is your place! Be sure to make a reservation though.

Review

Theme nights have always been enticing to us, whether it is tackling a certain cuisine or a certain segment of food type. It gives us the ability to explore uncharted territories at our own pace and preference. Does Bayty's Surf & Turf night live up to our perception of a theme night?

Food

The elegant construction of the restaurant had us instantly hooked and amped-up our expectations of the seafood expedition we were about to embark upon. The neatly organized buffet made it effortless to navigate through their vast offerings. The food was as advertised, the meat offerings were succulent while the seafood was fresh with no signs of staleness, although almost everything we had was cold as we went in for the cold salads.

The service is something to be praised as well, keeping check of our satisfaction. So yes, Bayty's Surf & Turf definitely lived up to our expectations and more.

Desserts

The dessert lineup is spectacular! There is so much to choose from that we picked one of everything. Some of the standouts include whoopie pies, the cheesecake, brownies among many more. We gobbled quite a few of those whoopie pies since it was super soft and addicting.

About

A Contemporary European Themed Boutique Serving Customized Giveaways, Belgium Chocolates, Indian Sweets, Bakery, Restaurant.

Ambiance

Sweet Berry lives up to it's name by being a cute little cafe style restaurant with funky interiors and high chairs. Most of the 'decor' is also a business opportunity by the way of displaying varied themed gift boxes and packs for customized gift giving. And for the content inside the box, there is again another huge display of chocolates and Indian Sweets that can be mixed and matched and weighed as per your requirement. They also do customized cakes, for occasions, which got us to thinking how nice it would be to try out a new place with competitive pricing for a change to break the monotony.

Review

We made our way to Sweet Berry on a quiet weekday afternoon, surprised to find a huge group of people already chilling there since it had opened very recently! Nonetheless, we were welcomed by the servers and managers who sat us and started explaining the concept of Sweet Berry as not only a restaurant but also a corporate endeavor aimed at customizing edible gift boxes and they told us about a few of their orders to get a better view of it! Their menu looked interesting and we were told we must try their best sellers which we did amongst other things and had no complaints!

Beverages

Cappuccino, so underrated yet so powerful. Theirs was produced from a generic coffee machine, yet it tasted good enough to make my wife smile, the coffee addict that she is. And of course the conversation about "cute cups" began!
Guava Magic, which was a magical combination of my favorite Guava juice with lime juice, tabasco pepper sauce, with coriander and seasoned with masala. This mixture turned out to be the highlight as the taste was outstanding. I can easily come back just for this super special mocktail.
Classic Banta Lemonade, made us nostalgic because of the very nature of this drink being served in glass bottles with a marble intact just in the olden days back home in India. The lemonade itself was delicious as it was flavored with "chaat masala" or "jaljeera" both being my favorite condiment.
Jawa Chip Frappe, not only was a looker but tasted really good too. The best thing about this beverage was that the portion was not huge but doable. Also, it wasn't too thick or overly sweet! It was a frappe we could very well see ourselves devouring in the summer.
Sweet Berry Special Drink, looked really appetizing but we had already had gulp-fulls of the java chip frappe and it just would be wrong to have something sour after a milky drink. It looked nice, though!

Food

Gallotti Kebab, was surprisingly beautifully done. It comprised of a mash made from kidney beans, and even though it tasted nothing like the original meaty version, it was still interesting and delectable. The green chutney, apapd and slices of onion served alongside only complimented the kebabs more.
Szechwan Paneer, was a dish chosen by my wife, as it apparently used to be one of her favorite appetizers back home. I on the other had am very reluctant to call for paneer outside because in Dubai, it is usually a dry and hard version. Sweet Berry surprised us because the paneer was super soft and fresh but it also was tossed in the most amazing Chinese-style flavor! Full marks to this one!
Mexican Tacos, is their highest selling dish on the menu and we get why. Crunchy naked tacos filled to the brim with grilled peppers, caramelized onions, jalapenos, sour cream and a really delicious and spicy salsa! Looks can be deceptive in this case, and even though they look small, they are really heavy and will leave you feeling full!
Soya Tikka Masala, was served on little ice cream sticks came as a real surprise! The soya chunks marinated in Indian spices and a tomato gravy and grilled. It almost felt like eating meat with this one, as the texture and the taste somehow felt similar. Kudos to the chef for pulling this one so well!
Nasi Goreng, is what we had ordered and tastewise it seemed like we got a portion of Mexican rice instead which was really yum! We did suggest to them that since they do such good soya dishes, they should do a soya skewer version as an accompaniment to the Nasi Goreng, alongside Indonesian rice and Peanut Sauce, to make it more authentic.
Hummus With Falafel and Pita, we think was a mix of two dishes- best of both worlds almost! The hummus was good but the falafel was a clear winner here! Sweet berry has a recipe that is different from the original but only for the better. We loved it to the hilt! Beyond doubt one of the best contemporary takes on the falafel tikkie.

Desserts

Assorted Indian Sweets, beautiful looking and taste-wise! They have an amazing variety for gifting that makes them an attractive venture! Tried the chocolate kaju katli which was just stupendous!
Nutella Chocolate Brownie, can never ever go wrong! This version was served to us super fresh heated in the microwave and with additional chocolate sauce drizzled on top. Even though we thought we could not eat anymore, we managed to finish this beauty. Definitely, try it.

Verdict

Recently opened Sweet Berry Cafe has collected quite an audience for itself and well deservedly so, because this cafe is all about good food, great service, and a rather lovely ambiance! It is definitely a family place and by being completely vegetarian, it's concluded that the Indian elderly crowd of Dubai are going to love it. Their gifting department seems really mouth watering with attractive prices and tons of variety. We loved our time here and we definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new place to dine at. Sweet Berry does not disappoint one bit.

About

Moreish, a Greek word, translating into so pleasant to eat that one wants more which is exactly what we felt. A brand new addition to Dubai's dining scene which goes a step further in terms of quality and taste of its food.

Ambiance

Quirky is definitely one word I would choose to describe this place. Set in the by-lanes of Oud Mehta, it is a newly opened restaurant waiting to be discovered. Cafe style almost, there is an outdoor and indoor seating available. They have cute tamps replicating knobs, and their posters are just adorable. A very comfy and cosy place. Designed by the owner Gulshan Narang himself, Moreish gives a refreshingly inviting feel even before entering the place.

Review

Moreish means something so pleasant to eat, that one wants more! This certainly was the case at our intimate dinner at their restaurant last night. We were so warmly welcomed by the staff and the managers, that it almost felt like a home affair. The tables there have an inbuilt tic-tac-toe, with moreish buttons to play with. Kept us busy while we waited for our food, which was about 10 quick minutes, after which these burst of dishes arrived and all of them tasted SO good, we just sat and enjoyed our the feast laid before us for the next hour!

Beverages

We started off with some beverages, that included Evolution, which was a unique mix of lychee and lemongrass. Super refreshing.
The Strawberry Breeze came in next, which included strawberry, mint, and lime. The taste just popped and I finished the whole drink in no time.
And lastly The Sunset, which was a combination of orange and peach. All of the drinks were super refreshing, just a tad bit over-sweet. But the servers were kind enough to rectify that give us another one!

Food

The food just blew our minds off. One really needs to try it to believe it.
Moreish Shawarma Nachos
were everything and more. Crisp and hot tortilla chips, topped with flavored chicken bits, guacamole, and sour cream was the best appetizer we could have asked for!
All Star Mushroom Soup
came with truffle oil sprinkled on top. So worth the price. The star of the dish is also the fancy bowl it comes in! The slice of garlic bread served with it was just heavenly!
Lemongrass Cottage Cheese Skewer
was basically chunks of very soft cottage cheese marinated in a pesto lemongrass mix and topped with some green chutney. It was a unique way to eat paneer for sure, and the vegetarians with us loved it. It was also made with zero spice on our request, so much appreciated.
Adobo Chicken
is a Filipino dish that we thought we should try. So it was basically chicken wings tossed in this adobo gravy which was obviously really mild. Have had adobo cicken multiple times in Philippines and for an Indian chef, this was replicated quite well.
FILO Prawns
were something like prawn spring rolls but crispier on the outside, And the shrimp filling was super soft oozing flavor on the inside. The portion was huge as an appetizer so it's completely shareable. We just wished the filo pastry was rolled a tad bit thinner but now this us nitpicking an otherwise near perfect appetizer.
Vegetarian Quesadilla
was devoured by the only vegetarian on our table and he said he loved it. It had a good balance of cheese to veg to tortilla ratio and their sour cream was really good! He claims it to be one of the best quesadillas in town!
Mexican Fajita Wrap
is a chicken wrap with Mexican seasoning and peppers. It was quite yum, but the star of the dish was the portion of fries that came with it. These fries were tossed in some kind of Indian masala that made them delicious. The side slaw was pretty amazing as well.
Slow Roasted Chicken
was part of our mains. We had ours without the brown rice, so it was two pieced of perfectly cooked chicken, served with the jus on the side (extremely flavorful), mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. The chicken was almost falling off the bone so it made our job quite easy and the mash was simply amazing. A must have for sure!

Desserts

Chocolate Spa Dessert
was such a looker! A brownie topped with ice cream served on a sizzling plate have been done before several times, but this one had a surprise addition, which was an urn filled with chocolate sauce that they pour on the table which released the smoky effect from the sizzling place! It was also accompanied by sides like marshmallows and chocolate stones that made it super interesting!
Chocolate Lotus Mousse
was the star of the night! It was so rich and creamy, that none of us could put our forks down for a second. There was a subtle hint of the Lotus flavor, which is exactly how we like it. Really exceptional, and we think we might just go back for the dessert!

Moreish has something for everyone. The food here is toothsome and fits even a school going kid's budget! The portions are definitely share-worthy. But it is the warmth of the people there that will make you want to go back! They help you with literally everything and are very prompt. You must try it out to feel this special experience!

About

A restaurant that serves quality vegetarian food and goes beyond traditional Indian fare, Quattro Ristorante is spread across three locations in Mumbai. The menu offers pure vegetarian Italian and Mexican cuisine, and a range of quality desserts that will leave you salivating.

Quattro has a very rustic, and earthy ambience and is committed to delivering to its patrons an authentic fine dining experience. Quattro is also well known for its signature pizzas made in a traditional wood-fired oven.

Ambiance

Enter Quattro and you will be quite surprised with their modern and very chic interiors and the fact that the restaurant is not stuffed with unnecessary decor or lighting. Speaking about the lighting, we genuinely appreciate bright and well-lit restaurants as opposed to those dim "mood-setters", so this was perfection for us. The hues this place is drenched in are also very bright and modern, almost keeping is casual and easy. The do have community tables and private dining setting.

Review

Quattro got me like "ooooh". Please let me get this straight, my wife and I are both ardent fans of meat (sorry vegans of 2016), and we were really reluctant to go here in the first place because it's complete 100% vegetarian food. But when some of our long lost friends chose this as a destination, we could not say no, and also since everyone we know on facebook and real life has been here and raved about it, we thought, well why not? There's plenty 24X7 KFC's open around just in case.

Moving on, Quattro surprised us not only by the way it looked but with their beyond par food and presentation. EVERYTHING here is Instagram-worthy on the outside but delicious and mouthwatering on the inside. Continue reading to get a larger picture of what we had endured...

Beverages

Mind Blown. We had a strawberry margarita, a berry mojito and a ginger and watermelon mojito. The margarita came completely frozen almost like an ice popsicle and I think that's  what made it so extra refreshing! The mojitos were served in mason jars of course but had an interesting twist with the dissolving cotton candy used as a sweetener when the fizzy was poured on top. Interesting and fun concept. The drinks are not over sweet, so that makes them very likable.

Food

The food is the actual magical part about this restaurant. They have Italian as well as Mexican cuisine and a ton of variety for both. I remember getting lost in the menu, finding it unbelievably hard to decide what not to order. Anyways, lucky for us we were so many people that we got a ton of variety to eat.

Below, is the freshly made guacamole of course, that they do by your table and then they sublimate it and serve them in avocado shells with corn chips. One of the best we have eaten in Dubai, hands down.
Garlic bread with cheese for the kiddos on our table who by the way, loved them and inhaled them!
Formaggio De Patate, which is basically baby potatoes tossed in olive oil, again topped with cheese. This was one of the best dishes on the table that night, and I'm pretty sure we ended up ordering it again. #mustorder
Risotto Palle, being soft cheesy risotto balls fried and served with cute chili oil pipettes for added but voluntary flavor. This one too was gone in seconds. Almost like an arancini with a twist.
Margarita Upside Down Pizza, was a regular pizza- don't know why the funky name, though. Also taste wise it was pretty crispy and cheesy, just how we like it. With a dash of chili flakes of course.
Southwestern Rolls, were rolled tortillas stuffed with peppers, rice, and beans topped with an ice cold scoop of guacamole. The key is to have it one go and experience the superb burst of flavors!
Gnocchi Paprika was homemade gnocchi tossed in a garlic cream sauce mixed with chili flakes. It was commendable that the gnocchi was perfect, which is really rare to find. It was not extra dough-ey nor was it falling apart. The sauce gave the bland gnocchi the exact kick it needed.
Canneloni Florentina, tubes of pasta filled with spinach, ricotta, basil and the works and topped with marinara and amooth mozzarella cheese. This was quite an interesting dish and somehow it had got all the flavors right. The portion size is enough to stuff two hungry people happily!
Jalapeno Riso With Grilled Cottage Cheese was exactly what the description said, flavored rice served with grilled cheese. Now, this really excited the vegetarians but my wife decided to skip this one out (Too Much Food). But from that one bite that I took, it was interesting in its own unique way.
Risotto Funghi, The clear winner and the star dish of the night. If I remember correctly we even ordered this twice, because everyone loved it so much. The rice was perfectly cooked and was creamy, but what made all the difference was the truffle oil drizzled on top. WE could smell it from a distance and even though we were stuffed by now, this just opened up our appetites again! One of the best risottos in Dubai!

Verdict

Quattro is one of a kind, waiting to be discovered a place in Dubai. When I asked my vegetarian friend why she loves the place so much, her simple reply was that not all Italian restaurants offer dishes where even the cheese and the desserts are completely vegetarian like Quattro does and that just solved it. It is definitely a must go place for the vegetarians but also for carnivores for us we left being completely satiated and happy with what we ate. Big kudos to the next big thing in Dubai.

About

Located in Dubai’s famous Kite Beach - Jumeirah 3, LaOla offers all day breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our focus is on high quality and fresh produce selected by our executive chef Thomas Bator and his team. Over looking The Palm to Burj Al Arab, the view is one of a kind while chilling with friends and family before or after the beach.

Ambiance

It's that time of the year when the weather becomes absolutely pleasant in Dubai. So we decided to just bask in the magical view and enjoy the sunset here at LaOla which without a doubt is made for these.

Review

We thoroughly enjoyed our view coffee and conversations, the place (and beach) was buzzing with activity but fortunately we were a big group occupying a massive table of about 10 friends who unanimously had a great time at LaOla Beach Restaurant which deserves to be tried just for its ecstatic view.

Beverages

The tea & coffee were both to the point and refreshing, something that was very much needed to open our eyes on a lazy Friday afternoon.

Food

The plates, presentation of the dishes and aroma were all spot on and phenomenal, but it did raise our expectations a bit too high as we were actually disappointed by the food, which to be honest was plain average.
The breaded chicken burger was a saving grace. It not only was presented well, but this one tasted the part as well.
The Fish & Chips was way too oily for our liking. The portion was good for sure, but the excessive oil just killed the dish.
The chicken fingers were cold and dry. Had to be replaced with another batch which was considerably better than the disaaster that was initially served.
Special mention to this unique TNT Shrimps. The shrimps were extremely soft and actually filled inside these big (and hot) chilies. This is a must try especially if you love your seafood and want to try something different.

Desserts

The French toast was massive in portion size and was the best thing on our table. It was hence quickly devoured in no time.Again, full marks for presentation.

Can definitely recommend Laola for the beverages, desserts and above all the view. Honestly, You can go right ahead and skip the salads & mains! We were here for lunch, but I have heard their breakfast items are good. Will try those the next time round and update the blog accordingly.

Encapsulating lights, enjoyable music, fine selection of wine & beer and food, and a great company; a combination like this makes the Bar at The Hubb come out lively. The welcoming environment helps you merge in quite effortlessly, making for a great evening with friends. I was pretty drunk and just stood in front of the enigmatic and powerful laser lights. Gave me an instant kick.

Review

The Hubb Dubai is a Nightlife Destination incorporating music styling from various genres. A different experience every night of the week.

The Hubb or Dahab are homonyms finding their origin in the Arabic Dictionary, both implying some beautiful meanings. Hubb on one side implies love and friendship; Dahab on the other symbolizes gold- the most pious metal of all.

The private area where we had our group of 8 seated is the most sought after area at The Hubb. Cozy sofas next to the mini bar make space for small private parties one could hold for friends. Refined musical selection by the best DJs in town and around the world ensure a next level experience. The elegant and sophisticated and brand new setting makes The Hubb one of the best nightlife spot in the city.

Beverages

Priced decently especially when it comes to bottles, The Hubb doesn't disappoint on all counts. Be it a cocktail, mock-tail or your favorite brand of alcohol, They have a wide range that caters to almost everyone. Just the way it should be.

About

Spiceklub is a theme based restaurant, the theme being Molecular Gastronomy. This place serves Indian food with a twist. The everyday recipes and the street food are presented in a completely different ‘Master Chef Style’ making it look all the more attractive.

Ambiance

The entrance for SpiceKlub and Quattro is one but gets segregated on the inside. When you enter SpiceKlub it fills you with nostalgia from just growing up in an Indian community. You see a HUGE rangoli design used as the wall, you see bicycle wheels on the roof and swings on two of the tables that is served as seats. The place is really colorful, uplifting and well lit. There is ample seating to host a party for 40 PAX approximately. The cushions are adorable as they come in colors like magenta and hot pink with funky designs on them, that truly match the whole look of the place! Definitely insta-worthy.

Review

We were super excited to witness this little magnetic Bur Dubai joint since EVERYONE we know has been there and been charmed. Some of our friends have even been there over 8 times since its grand opening not so long ago. The place is super easy to find with parking a plenty! Inside is a colorful world, with tiny references to an Indian upbringing.

Our experience left us ecstatic and hungry for more, not because we did not eat enough but because the whole menu looked so impressive, we wanted to try them all! More reasons to head back ASAP? The co-owner, also a dear friend, suggested a variety of options for us to try, especially since most members of our family are bland food eaters and definitely could not handle the "Spice" in the "Klub".

Beverages

Coconut Water With Assorted Caviar:

The presentation is SO good, I almost had to wait for like 30 minutes till everyone finished clicking several pictures. Now this drink is supposed to be eaten because it is frozen. It is embellished with some "rose caviar" that is essentially rose flavored jelly bits. Taste wise it was spectacular! It felt like eating tender coconut, just frozen. The goblet it arrives in is filled with water to probably keep the ice cold for longer but it delusioned some of us on the table to thinking there is more in it when it actually was over. Definitely worked as a good prank on the table.

Food

Dahi Ke Kebab:

An all time favorite, SpiceKlub version definitely got us reaching for some water after we ate this. Extremely soft and delicate, they were definitely a treat, especially with the little-infused yogurt ball on top. Gone in 60 seconds kind-a dish!
Pav Bhaji Fondue:

Unique concept, it was one of the best dishes laid on the table that night. Extremely spicy but no because of the chili, because of the garam masala, it topped in all the palate appeasers! The only issue was the bread would not sustain on the fork and we ended up just eating it off our plates by taking some bhaji individually. Defeated the purpose. If the bread was a bit harder, it would have been perfect to soak the gravy and stay on the fork as well. Mouthwatering nonetheless.
Paapdi Chaat:

Never a dull moment at SpiceKlub, our humble paapdi chaat was transformed into some molecular gastronomy fiasco. This was paapdi was topped with some spicy green chutney, topped with a yogurt spherification, topped with sweet chutney, and lastly topped with some minty froth! The key is to have all the components together which is also the tricky part. But it is so worth it! I was not too keen to try this out, because I quite like the regular paapdi chaat but it changed my opinion. It was far better and less messy!
Malai Kofta:

Indian main course is very rich as it is, and I feel malai kofta tops the list amonsgt the many options available. It is essentially paneer and spinach koftas topped with a VERY creamy sauce. Don't get me wrong, it is tasty AF, and my father's favorite, I just could not help but wonder the amount of calories we would be consuming. Anyways, The portion size is good enough for 4 people for this one!
Moti Paneer Makhani:

Another family favorite, this one was cubed cottage cheese served with a rich tomato based gravy. I personally found it to be too sweet for my liking, but my family seemed to really enjoy it. Again, portion size would suit a family of four easily!
Dal Makhani:

Only after the dishes arrived we realized how buttery our affair was. Every dish in the main course was butter themed. We anyways, dal makhani is a standard dish we always order and often use it as a benchmark to rate an Indian restaurant. Lucky for us, the dal did not disappoint though it wasn't the best either. My wife hardly ever eats dal makhani, but she had a second helping for this one. It was creamy, yes, but not over the top and had good subtle flavors to it!

Desserts

Flower Pot:

This was a saffron and rasmalai flavored mousse, served in a Belgian chocolate pot, topped with chocolate soil and served also on a pistachio based soil. Wow! We were 6 people sharing this dessert so we HAD to break it open and eat it, but if you can you must eat it from within the pot and then eat the chocolate cup, or else it gets too messy! The dessert itself was not only luscious but very innovative and unique. I think unanimously everyone wanted another serving of it.
Bubbling Kulfi:

So kulfi sublimated into tiny rocks and served with a variety of dips and a warning that it is essential to have the kulfi with the dips to avoid burning of the tongue thanks to the freshly added dry ice. The dips included chocolate ganache,  rabdi,  blueberry jam,  rose caviar and caramel sauce. It was one hell of a dessert especially with all the flavors that enhanced the simple kulfi into something exotic. My favorites were chocolate and caramel for obvious reasons, though the oldies loved the rabdi.

Verdict

SpiceKlub is any vegetarians dream come true. The service is good and the food is beyond excellent! Molecular gastronomy was getting a bit boring for us, but they refreshed the whole thing and convinced us hard-core carnivores that non-meat food can also be tasty! We are already looking forward to our next trip there, excited to try many other dishes that we could not that day.

About

Absolutely barbecues, better known as AB’s is a casual dining restaurant that is set to transform the dining experience to a new level with its innovative D-I-Y grilling concept. Following the runaway success of the concept in India, AB’s forayed into international market with the launch of its flagship outlet on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, UAE in December 2014 to the delight of the food lovers.

Ambiance

Placed at a prime location on SZR, Absolute Barbeque has definitely gathered some views and intrigue by passersby. We made our way there on a Friday afternoon were not surprised to see the outcome of people! It is quite a spacious joint with different kinds of seating available throughout. As you enter it is very family oriented and sofas and as you get inside, it is the more crowded-large group in front of the buffet area! It can definitely capacitate 100 people at once and I think they are amazing to hold celebrations with.

Review

Friday brunch was done right by us heading over here and being able to enjoy this vast ordeal that is a buffet! The options are relentless and the food itself does not seem to cease. There is this constant inflow of food at the buffet table and then your plates eventually! There was also a live station with various vegetables and meats and seafood that they would prepare for you per order, that combined with a chaat station.

Beverages

Food

The live grills included marinated and semi cooked chicken, lamb, and shrimps, and the vegetarian dishes included paneer, soya, mushrooms and of course potatoes. The process was a simple as grilling the already skewered items a bit further and they were ready for consumption. The best thing is they are unlimited, so it is possible you do not even make it to the main course. Another addition is the crispy corn that is served intermittently. One of the best dishes there and unmissable for sure.

The main course is a buffet set up, where you are urged to finally get up from your seats and fill up your plates. The varieties are excellent and the vegetarian and the non-vegetarian food is placed in separate sections. The vegetarian side included dishes like soya biryani, kofta curry, dum aloo sabzi. pasta and paneer sabzi along with an in-house special dal. The biryani was definitely one of a kind and the kofta curry was exactly how we like it, not extra sweet for sure.
The non-vegetarian main course included butter chicken, egg curry, noodles, chicken and mutton biryani and mussels in hot garlic sauce. We did not try the seafood but the egg curry was excellent and the mutton biryani was very close to an authentic one surprisingly! We just nibbled on the food as it was really hard to eat a full meal after ALL of those starters,
Below are some of the highlights:
Paapdi Chaat:

Sweet, sour and crunchy, this freshly made portion was all that we needed to commence our meal here. The portion seemed small since we were hungry but it is also unlimited, so no remorse!
Chicken Wings:

Indian style chicken wings gave it that additional oomph factor and also provided some serious spice to the consumers. Available through the buffet table, of seemed as one of the most sought out dishes that afternoon! The dish was unusual and definitely worth drooling.
Stir Fried Shrimps:

One of the live counter creations, this one was freshly made and served to us on the table, prepared in an Asian fashion, it was accompanied by shallots and peppers and was tossed in soy and vinegar amongst other components! It was definitely one of my favourites of that day which is saying a lot.
Fish Chilly:

To our surprise, the chef came in lugging this big-ish BBQ stand with him that was filled with his fresh prepared fish chilly creation. He wanted to acknowledge his presence amongst the guests and hence I think he went about say a gentle hello while serving the dish himself. The fish itself was extremely we cooked and so deliciously spiced that we wanted a round 2 instantly!
Vegetarian BBQ:

To my utmost delight, there were more things for the vegetarians that we could have imagined. They had interesting options like a barbecued watermelon scoop that genuinely blew my mind and also a barbecued pineapple topped with a honey cinnamon rum which apparently is their specialty and is also served as a palate cleanser!
Besides, there was a regular spread of broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, corn and paneer!

Desserts

Chocolate Fondue:

A personal favorite, it was refreshing to see a massive chocolate fondue at an Indian buffet after so long. The accompanying items included marshmallows, nuts, fruits and pieces of brownies amongst a few others! The chocolate was glistening smooth and tasted absolutely amazing!
Baby Gulab Jamuns:

Not only did they look super cute but they tasted exceptional despite being mass produced. I and my wife must have taken multiple servings of these just to satisfy our sweet tooth! Totally worth the wait.
Everything Else:

OF  course, since it's a buffet, it had so many things like a chocolate pastry, chocolate balls, rice pudding and jalebi which were all beyond edible. They were actually tasty! They also had a vegetarian section for eggless desserts which I am sure would go a long way with Indian population!
Paan Icecream:

We were honestly stuffed by now and did not want even look at more dishes, but the staff insisted that we try this special creation and we are so glad that we did. It was basically vanilla ice cream with paan components and topped with some sugared vermicelli! It was not only refreshing but it pulled us out of an afternoon slump and I think we must have finished it completely! A must try for sure.

Verdict

Absolute Barbeque is a one stop restaurant to satisfy all your culinary needs! Their wide variety will leave you lost for choice without even burning a hole in the pocket. The service is amazing and you will be well taken care of! the food is fresh since you are further cooking it at your own table. The place is huge enough to accommodate a lot of people but it is still better to make a reservation beforehand! Definitely make your way there and make sure you go with an appetite.

About

Paavo moved to the United States with his family in 1913, looking to make a new home. He ran a corner store in a little town of South Dakota. The town didn’t have much money and people would trade corn, flour and vegetables from their farm for store goods. PAAVO started making pizzas in the back of his shop every Friday using the ingredients that were brought to him. And, soon people began queuing for the Pizzas. Inspired by 100 years of Pizza making tradition, Paavo’s legacy lives on till date by serving up Pizza’s made out of hand-crafted dough and fresh ingredients just as Paavo did all those years ago.

This modern brand will continue to grow, and are planning to open more than 60 in 5 years across the GCC.

Ambiance

Nothing noteworthy here in terms of décor or establishing the brands abroad aesthetics. Although it is immaculate and has spacious seating arrangements. Idealistic for take away and home/office deliveries.

Review

Pizza joints have been our bread and butter over the past few months as far as our blog is concerned and for good reason too. Delving deep into the intricacy of the “fast food”, Paavo’s was next up on our exploration of pizzas.

The invite process was completely mismanaged though, I was in half a mind to skip this place altogether. Even after a lot of back and forth over 4 weeks of emails the staff did not have any clue I was coming in for a tasting session despite a confirmation. What's more, the number provided to me by the manager was wrong & led to waste of further time. After wasting about 15 minutes, the staff has the audacity to tell me that drinks are not included in your tasting and that I would have to pay for them separately. Say what??? Even though we were 4 of us, which was conveyed before we went in, they offered us a meal fit for two. Weird ? Usually, I wouldn't mind paying, but if your head office invites someone for a "tasting session" then make sure everything is smooth & ready to go.

Anyways, Offering a solid lineup of pizzas for its non-vegetarian demographic, Paavo’s alienates its vegetarian counterpart with basics and nothing inventive to offer. Although there is no denying that Paavo’s offer succulent pizzas and deliver where it counts the most. With extremely competitive pricing during its “happy hours” Paavo’s should definitely be on your lookout when ordering in for an absolute bang for your buck bargain.

Food

Buffalo Wings:

Trust me, they taste much better than they look. If you can take some spice, order these with your eyes closed. If you can take much more spice, I dare you to dip the wings in the accompanying hot sauce.
3 Cheese Pizza:

Pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian spices.

Cheese galore! A solid counterpart and much more superior to a traditional margarita pizza. Long strings of cheese pull on every bite makes it a solid recommendation for all cheese fanatics. Have it hot for an all-round experience.
Buffalo Chicken Pizza:

Pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, grilled chicken, mixed bell pepper, jalapenos, crushed chili pepper, topped with Buffalo sauce.

This was the clear winner of the lot. The combination of all the above mentioned ingredients is simply superb and did the trick for us. Would highly recommend this version to all lovers of Chicken Pizzas.

Verdict

Paavo’s offers a combination of quantity, quality and price (only during happy hours) unlike anything we have seen in a pizza joint in Dubai. Although, it does play the safe game without treading on offering something unique like a lot of its competitors. Hopefully we could see a little more variation in their ingredients down the line. Ultimately, Paavo’s is a safe bet for quality and taste all the while being pocket friendly even if its just for a few hours each day. Worth a try!

About

It’s Catch ‘o clock!
Follow the fresh sea breeze down to the shore and find the quirky and colourful shack that is Catch22 for a seafood experience that’s right at home in multicultural Dubai.

Catch22 is every seafood lover’s dream, bringing together the best, classic dishes from across the world, as well as dishes with their own unique take on fusion. So if you’re looking for mouthwatering seafood in every form from soups to sandwiches to pasta to sushi rolls (and even a delicious selection of salads, vegetarian and meat dishes), not to mention desserts to satiate every sweet tooth – head to Catch22. It’s the perfect spot for lunch, dinner or just a quick snack by the sea!

Review

Catch 22 literally means a paradoxical situation, and the restaurant completely feeds on the idea to create these awe-inspiring dishes that may sound absurd, but they taste like heaven! We are so glad we discovered this place at the very picturesque JBR, of course, beach-facing with all its glory, but the real crowd-pullers are the quirky signboards and meme's that are oh so brilliantly  hung and placed all over the restaurant. They are sure worth a chuckle and are completely Snapchat and Instagram worthy. We were there during the evening so we got a gist of the place in daylight as well as dim light with the music going up as it got darker. The place has a very young vibe whilst being able to serve food that would please any old soul. We had a splendid time there in terms of the hospitality, the ambiance, and the glorious food. Each dish had a character of its own and stood out to be remembered for a very long time indeed. We had our favorites, sure, but when we put them down on a list it was almost the whole menu. So read along and experience with your eyes till you waltz your way there unable to wait any longer!

Beverages

Cappuccino/Latte:

Brilliant coffee. Served piping hot straight from the kitchen. It is something to be sipping on great coffee while eating great food.
Mojito:

Lightly flavored but very refreshing. Of course, it was an innocent drink with just the right amount of well, sugar.
Lotus Milkshake:

A giant glass of caramel milk essentially. What I did love about it was that it was not overly sweet and I genuinely appreciate being able to control my diabetes? #joke But on a serious note, it was delightfully yum and easy on the tummy.

Food

Chicken Fondue:
Creamy brie fondue with buttermilk coated and fried chicken, shitake mushrooms and soft focaccia bread.

A perfect appetizer to share with your friends. A brie fondue is unheard of and proved to be an eye-opener for all those pseudo cheddar cheese fondues we have been gulping all our lives in Dubai. Bits of chicken popcorn went amazingly well with it and so did the focaccia. We only wished the shitake had some taste on it, as it was just a chewy  piece and did nothing to compliment the subtle brie.
C22 Shrimp:
Batter fried shrimp tossed in a spiced chili aioli, served over a sweet and sour tropical fruit salsa.

PF Chang's started it and everyone tries to replicate it. Now, even though no one can do justice to the original, their version came pretty close and was a different kind of yummy! Not bad at all, and I would say a must order for anyone who likes shrimps! On our special request, they served us some extra sauce, which added to the flavor and spice and made it uber appetizing.
Cheeseburger Quesadilla:
Layers over layers of melty seasoned cheeseburger, crispy tortillas, queso sauce, with pepper cheese, pico de gallo salsa, sour cream, and guacamole.

I mean who has even heard of something so American like the cheeseburger smashed with something so Spanish like a quesadilla? The amalgamation of these two concepts is just bomb. A beef patty is flattened and spread between the tortilla and the process is repeated to create a tall-ish layer of the lusciousness. And of course, to add more of a Spanish twist, it's topped with sour cream and guac. One bite into it and you cannot put it dow. It's like you get the cheeseburger sans the interfering bread and then you confuse but delight your palette with the guac and the salsa kicking in. A.MUST.TRY.
Tempura Mac N Cheese:
Creamy Mac & Cheese roll with bacon bits and pickled jalapeno.

Fried Mac and Cheese? I'm SOLD. These came as a portion of 6 balls and they did not seem enough for the 3 of us. Crispy fried mac and cheese balls were served on a bed of cheesy dipped sliced jalapeno. It is a great game day appetizer and a favorite with kids and adults alike!
Po Boy Sliders:
A signature 3-in-1 appetizer pack of poached lobster, fried hammour fish, and crispy batter fried prawns each served on a slider bun with Louisiana remoulade, crisp lettuce, and fresh sliced tomato.

These were an ultra cute edition to our table. They came in with colorful and funky mini-buns which lit up the entire table. One bite into them was magical.
Chicken Shawarma Roll:
A traditional chicken shawarma that takes you back to the roots, literally! It comes with garlic mayonnaise, crisp pickles, and fries on the side.

Again, have you ever heard about shawarma filling in a scooped cucumber shell? It is a great option for the health conscious for sure, without being really dull. Cucumber is a great ingredient to maintain the freshness and add a bit of a crunch to the chicken mush without it being chips. It was an instant hit at our table and my wife has only been dreaming about them ever since.

Desserts

Lotus French Toast:
Crushed brioche stuffed with lotus cream and vanilla bean Anglaise.

Do yourself a favor and go there for at least the desserts! They are completely shareable (even though you would not want to). This one was one giant slice of fluffy bread drowned in lotus cream and when it arrives on your table the cream Anglaise is poured on top to what I personally think is cut the sweetness partially and bring all the components together. This dessert is absolutely unmissable and should be enlisted as one of the best desserts in Dubai ASAP!
Popcorn Chocolate Ganache:
A gooey ganache baked with chocolate chip cookies, caramel popcorn, fresh raspberries, and vanilla ice cream.

I have the same emotion for this beautiful looking dessert as well. A cup of ganache hiding under a cookie layer topped with ice cream is salivation central! Can you imagine, cutting through the cold ice cream into the cookie and then into that warm ganache? These layers will blow your mind and added to it the crunch from the caramel popcorn just confirms that Catch 22 is a dessert paradise! We were stuffed but we just could not put our forks down until we wiped clean the vessel it was served it. Lethally good.

Catch 22 is a magical place, where the food is just as amazing as the ambiance and the hospitality and service will ensure you do not want to leave. Every dish is a masterpiece and there is for sure something for everyone! We had a vegetarian friend with us who was a bit apprehensive at first but came out all smiles so happy with all the gluttony that just occurred. It is definitely one of those places where you can a cheat meal is worth and at the same time, you can maintain your diet by gorging on their wonderful sushi and seafood.  We recommend Catch 22 as one the most unmissable spots in Dubai and you would too, just head down there and try them out!

Review

Lunch take-outs get healthy with The Green Fridge in town! When I first heard the name, I just assumed it would be some eco-friendly joint serving food in recycled paper or something but as it turns out it is actually body-friendly! We had the pleasurable opportunity to try them out, and since it is take-out only, we were even more pleased to save on the commute time we did not have to bother about.

One look at their menu and I will bet that you will either over order or/and be lost for choice! Anyways if you eat too much of a good thing, it is not bad, right?

Beverages

Orange Juice:

Love ME some good old OJ! Their juices are freshly squeezed obviously and are packaged in cute bottles with their logo on it!
Carrot Juice:

Now, I won't lie but the carrot juice looked grey, because of the oxidation and that was literally my validation that the juice it fresh! Oh, and it tasted good too. Almost felt like a pre-meal cleanse.

Food

Like I said, we were lost for choice, but we made sure we ordered something from every genre to make sure we did justice to the review. We started with a breakfast option, to one make your own salad along with a set one and tried two different wraps too!
Oats Morning:

This one was quite a kicker! A huge bowl of oats, cinnamon, PB, banana, honey, chia seeds and milk! It's a good source of fiber good carbohydrates, fat, and protein of course! Any health freak would appreciate this whole heartedly! Also, the dark chocolate shavings on top are the bomb.
Arabica:

This one was presented a small plastic jar sans the dressing of course. Neatly places layers or lettuce, cherry tomatoes, grilled halloumi cheese, mint leaves, green onions and capsicum made up for the jar. The dressing was a lemon pomegranate one and it went really well with the greens! The halloumi was so good and gave the salad the much needed ‘mass’, or you know, served as the main element! We also had crunchy pita chips on top, for the most welcomes crunch!
Make Your Own Salad:

My jar was filled with lettuce, broccoli, sweet corn red beans, green beans, cucumbers and some peppers, topped with a lemon pomegranate dressing as well and chicken as the protein and halloumi cheese with some pine nuts. Again, so full of taste but so huge. The portions are definitely shareable.
Chicken Wrap:

Next, we decided to try out the wraps for some variety. The chicken wrap came with avocados, tomatoes, jack cheese and cilantro. The portion size seemed huge as has been the trend with everything they have served. With this particular wrap, we felt it was lacking in taste and the only thing we got in every bite prominently was the soggy tortilla wrap, which was probably because JAFZA can be a pain to enter. But anyways, not the best. Needs to be extremely spiked with some sort of flavor.
Steak Fajeta Wrap:

This one was Steak strips, peppers, onions with some guac and cheddar cheese. It was definitely better than the chicken wrap but still not up to our taste. The steak strips were dried out and the guac was almost non-existent. Quite bumming, to see the wraps fail but the salads conquer...

Verdict

The Green Fridge has a few hit's and misses for sure, but you cannot take away from the fact that it is one of the major health food initiatives we have jabel ali, DIP side. The food is 100% fresh and worth your money. We are actually positive about the fact that if the wraps had reached us a bit early, they would have possibly tasted better! The salads were outstanding and our favorites, in fact, my wife and I already agreed upon ordering salads from her on a weekly basis. It is superb initiative that must be recognized and kudos to them for making us feel guilty about all those KFC takeaways for the "lack of choice"

About

It was more than 60 years ago, a one-time passion to serve the best Indian food has created Delhi Darbar as a world class and internationally renowned Indian restaurant brand.

It is not difficult to see why Indian cuisine has internationally always remained the first choice of many discerning gourmets. Over many centuries of occupation and intermingling, distant peoples and cultures have made India their home, each adding his own twist to local traditions, food and customs. Culinary, they unknowingly created a tantalizing match of available spices, both mixed with a large dose, of the urge to please the palate.

When the first Delhi Darbar opened in Bombay (Mumbai) several decades ago, all the food preparations were ceremoniously undertaken and mixed as were the original recipes from centuries ago.

Today they continue to keep these traditions sacred, to maintain the essential spirit and methodology  which goes into the preparation of their food. And that is what has made Delhi Darbar the most sought after Mughlai dining experience in the world.

Ambiance

A Mumbai Joint originally, Delhi Darbar is definitely all about the food than the faff. Have not been to the branches in Old Town Dubai, but the Barsha one is clean and squeaky! Ample seating available for 50+ people for sure! It is super easy to find via GMaps.

Review

Delhi Darbar is EPIC. I need to say this and get it about of the way. We were honestly not so psyched about eating Indian food outside, because in our experience it is always over the top oily, or bland, or just not to our taste. But DD changed all of that!!! Their Resturant was clean and welcoming, their menu was quite extensive and guys, they have Indo-Chinese as well. We were accompanied by our fellow food enthusiasts, who are actually RJ's by profession, and they surprisingly are quite regular at a different branch of DD.

Our servers too were extremely helpful with making sure we try out EVERY "famous" dish of theirs, which basically translated into this whole experience enabling us into a food coma, and we literally had to crawl back home! Not eating, was just not an option because the food was finger-lickingly good!

Beverages

It was so random when all of us ended up deciding the same drink to well, drink. Salted Lassi. From all the options available, don't know why we simultaneously decided on this one. It was good and thick, but a tad bit less on the salt, but it was rectified in minutes and was just how we wanted it! One of us decided to be bold and ordered a mango lassi, and needless to say, it was a perfect accompaniment to the spicy and thrilling food!

Food

We ordered tons of food, so I'm going to be as precise as possible, to ensure we do justice to them and you as readers and do not bore the shit out of you.

Starters:

Non-Veg Kebab Platter:

This included chicken tikka, lamb chops, mutton tikka and mutton and chicken sheekh kebabs. It came on a hot grill and was one of the best starts to our dinner. The kebabs were so full of flavor and extremely juicy and soft.
Chicken Lollipop/Drums of Heaven:

About 8-10 pieces of crisp fried chicken lollipops arrived with a sizzling hot sauce. An instant favorite at the table.
Dynamite Shrimps:

PF Chang's started it and everyone tries to replicate it. Now, even though no one can do justice to the original, DD's version came pretty close and was a different kind of yummy! Not bad at all, and I would say a must order for anyone who likes shrimps!
Main Courses:

Butter Chicken:

One of the very good off-beat versions of Butter chicken I have had in a very long time. I was beyond pleased that it was not sweet or too creamy but instead marinated well-spiced shredded chicken pieces in an apt curry. I always order Butter Chicken at an Indian restaurant, as it is one of the dishes that I hold as a benchmark for a good Indian place and Delhi Darbar passed with flying colors.
Tawa Chicken:

This was even better than the Butter Chicken and that is saying like a lot! Tawa Chicken is basically chicken shreds cooked in a semi dry masala or spices. It is a different option if you are bored of the same old gravies and still want the same kick. It is well made, and something we would try to replicate ourselves, or just land up there again for a fix. A must order if you are dining here.
Bread Basket:

Yes, a special mention to their bread basket, because guys their roomali roti is THE BEST, you will find anywhere in Dubai! Take my word for it and even their naan bread and garlic parathas are exceptional. Something about the dough or the freshness- it works! Too well almost. I could eat the bread just by itself.
Mutton Biryani:

Mutton is their specialty, as it is really cooked tender with the meat almost falling off the bone. That accompanied with aromatic rice made for a perfect biryani. One of the best we've eaten, for sure.
Triple Shezwan Chicken:

My wife's  favorite. Being from Mumbai, she has eaten so many versions here trying to find that perfect one, that at least come close to that caliber and she thought Delhi Darbar absolutely nailed it. It was just how she liked it and more. ME, on the other hand, thought it was way too spicy but on her recommendation, it became perfect when i just used less of the chicken gravy! Magic.

Desserts

Halwa:

Was too full to try this, but my RJ friends did vouch for it as the perfect sweet ending. Will try it out the next time round.
Caramel Custard:

Umm, YUM! Who is not a fan of caramel custard? Loved every bite of it.
Shahi Tukda:

My childhood favorite, this one is essentially fried bread soaked in condensed milk and a sugar syrup! Guys, their version added some saffron too and was bit lighter on the stomach than my grandma's version and tasty, but unbeatable to her style! (or maybe I'm just biased).

Verdict

Delhi Darbar has outdone itself in terms of food and service. Both of them are unbeatable as far as we are concerned. We are SO done with the gimmicky style of food, that we massively appreciated food for what it was and how it should be. It is, maybe not a very good looking place, but guys- if you have not tried this place, you are missing out! One of the best Indian food joints in Dubai. #PawApproved.

About

Opened in 2006 and what started as a 16 seater restaurant, Eric's Restaurant has grown over the years and is known for its unique home-cooked Goan dishes along with Chinese and Thai cuisines.

The owner, Eric Lewis, a pioneer in the hotel industry for over 20 years, aimed at bringing people from all over Dubai together with one common love - authentic Goan food.

The ambiance of the restaurant reflects the type one would see in any cosy home, with a hospitable team of waiters and cooks, who make every dining experience, a memorable one. Be it a small family gathering, a business meeting, or even a reunion with long lost friends, Eric's Restaurant promises to leave your stomach desiring for more.

In the words of Eric, "Thank you, and come back home to Eric's!"

Review

Eric's for us was completely unheard of, since the beginning of time so we were so surprised when our bur Dubai friends mentioned they frequent there all the time. When asked about the cuisine, they said its primarily Goan, but you get all kinds of fusion things available! My wife was a bit irked because she is not a bi fan of coconut based dished and she is allergic to seafood, so she had it in her head that it was her day to starve for dinner. Quietly we made our way there, and just in time because they only had one table available and the crowds were pouring in by the second!

Beverages

We ordered a mix of juices, aertaed drinks and the unique Goan specialty Cocum which were all super refreshing.

Food

The menu was vast and yes it was so typically Goan, but the good thing was that there were plenty chicken dishes as well and there was PAD THAI! Like, you are not allowed to complain when there is pad Thai involved. Our group is such a seafood lover, so we ended up ordering majority of the starters as seafood, and maybe one chicken starter and one chicken main dish!
The black pepper chicken was out of this world, despite being a tad bit spicy. It was basically shredded chicken stir fried in black pepper sauce! The quantity was shareable amongst 4 people at least.
For the seafood starters we had a bunch of dishes that were pre-ordered so really cannot recollect the names, but it was some Chinese style prawns that were amazing, and some fish stir fry as well. The best thing is the portions are so huge, that we do not need to order more.
For the mains there was a mango and coconut shrimp curry, which was unheard of in my world but I am so glad I was initiated to it, because it was something so spectacular. It almost felt like a savoury version of the mango and rice dessert! One of my top favourites for that night. Can go back just for this!
The butter chicken was subtle and boring, and chicken was over done sadly. We have definitely had better ones elsewhere. The appams went well with the gravy though.
Then came the big winner: The chicken pad Thai! The gluttonous noodles were cooked perfectly and tossed aromatically in garlic and sauces with some chicken shreds! It was simple yet non fuss and tasty!

Verdict

The seafood at Eric's is exceptional, but the chicken is not! They are true to their cuisine which is all about seafood and coconutty mixtures! It seemed like a humble joint that is there to impress people with it's food and not some fancy setting and we thought it did that. Head over there to enjoy some kickass seafood!

About

zpizza was founded in the art colony of Laguna Beach, California, where creativity and craftsmanship have flourished for almost a century. So it comes as no surprise that their critically acclaimed pizza is a true Laguna original. A passion for great food is why they start with dough made from 100% organic wheat flour prepared fresh every day, hand-thrown and fire-baked until uniquely crisp. Their zest for quality continues when the toppings go on. They combine select ingredients using award-winning skim mozzarella from Wisconsin, certified organic tomato sauce, MSG-free pepperoni, additive-free sausage, and fresh produce. Their gourmet salads and sandwiches are just as delicious.

Review

Unbeknownst to most, there’s an uprising in progression in the pizza market here in Dubai and over the last few months we have attended quite of a few of these newer pizza joints that have completely changed our perspective on what pizza is. If your exposure to pizza consists of the monopoly brands then you’re truly missing out on the evolution of the so called “fast food”, and zPizza plays quite the role here.

What would fly under most people’s radar is the fact how joints like zPizza have taken the initiative to identify the change in lifestyle of the Dubai residents. With more people now being conscious and adapting a healthier way of leading life, zPizza offers gluten free pizzas that keep the flavors locked in regardless, making it a win-win situation. Also, unlike most joints where salads are just there for the namesake that turn out to be extremely dry and joyless, zPizza may just have the best salads to offer than its competitors. As a pizza fanatic, zPizza just made my list of go to places for a slice or two of Italian goodness as it should yours.

Ambiance

For a fast food restaurant, the key here should be hygiene and cleanliness and zPizza was absolutely spotless. While the red walls and wooden tables are a strong indication of their product, it is also a great platform to show off their giant logo. The interiors are simplistic and engaging enough for a casual affair with friends and family.

Food

Pear & Gorgonzola Salad:
Mixed greens, fresh pear, gorgonzola cheese, housemade roasted candied walnuts, with balsamic vinaigrette.

If salads were of such caliber everywhere, I don’t presume people would be as fussy about it. This was delightful through and through, and easily one of the top recommendations from our visit. The greens were fresh, the pear was sweet, the gorgonzola cheese only added to already lively salad. Oh! And the walnuts said hi as well. This is how salads should be done!
Parmesan Flat Bread Sticks:
Baked pizza dough topped with garlic butter and parmesan cheese; served with housemade marinara sauce.

A solid starter with an even more solid sauce, that was tangy and zesty meshing well with the simplistic butter and cheese sticks.
California Veggie:
Organic tomato sauce, part-skim mozzarella, roma tomatoes, red onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, roasted zucchini, black olives.

Once again, there is nothing elaborate about such pizzas as it shouldn’t be. Tried and tested ingredients that are go to options for vegetarians, if that does the trick for you, zPizza gets the basics right.
ZWings:
Skillet baked, all natural chicken wings hand tossed in buffalo hot sauce, served with a side of ranch dip.

The wings were super tasty and the flavors really came through. We tried all the flavors they offer and each one of them was, in one word, superb. Lovers of all things spicy will enjoy this one to the core.
Mexican:
Housemade salsa mix, part-skim mozzarella, spicy lime chicken breast, red onions, sliced avocado, sour cream, green onions, cilantro.

This was hands down the best Pizza on our table. Not saying that the others were any bad but the Mexican version was top-notch.
ZCarnivore:
Housemade marinana, part-skim mozzarella, pepperoni, smoked beef ham, beef sausage, smoked bacon, fresh oregano.

On paper this sounded a clear winner. While not that bad, the taste was confusing to be honest. It's an experimental dish, so if you like trying stuff, go for it. Otherwise, this ones easily missable.
Buffalo Bleu:
Housemade roasted garlic sauce, part skim mozzarella, gorgonzola, spiced chicken breast, green onions.

Super smooth pizza. The taste was phenomenal. I think it was the spiced chicken breast or the roasted garlic sauce that did the trick. Or perhaps the combination of all the ingredients mentioned above.

About

At My Shawarma, they aim to provide an authentic Shawarma experience with a modern touch. From the first bite of your Shawarma to the last sip of your juice, quality is the most important ingredient of all at My Shawarma. They don’t freeze. They don’t pre-package. They don’t over-process. They prepare their dishes every day, the healthy way.

Ambiance

The interiors of their restaurants reflect eclectic dining while symbolising the awe-inspiring street food culture of the Emirati and Levant region.

Review

My Shawarma is an intimate and funky little place which can even be termed cute. It's got a good vibe overall and we did see many youngsters like us late in the night enjoying a good meal here. The decor is quite funky and to the point and they have made good use of the limited space.

Food

The menu looked so funky with all the hybrid shawarma's listed on there. We knew we HAD to try one of the classics and one could be a fusion concept.

Spicy Chicken Shawarma:

The portions are huge, is what our first thought was. Our platter came with a neatly wrapped shawarma alongside some fries. A bite into it, we realized it was not spicy enough for us so we ended up topping it with tabasco. It did come with a side sauce, which was chili mayo maybe, but still not that effective! On the good part, there was heaps of chicken in there which was awesome because no one likes bread-y and hollow shawarmas! Not bad at all- is our overall verdict for this one!
The French:

This one said it had mushrooms, mustard, thyme. But it did not. Maybe there was a glitch in order placement or some error, but we are pretty sure we got some otherl shawarma maybe a regular version. Yes, the corrective action would have been a confrontation, but it was about 1:00 am and my wife and me were exhausted from participating in a theater festival, that we just let it go. It was absolutely good tasting like the 1st order, but it was definitely not what we ordered.

About

Enjoy the authentic taste of Lebanese food inspired by the popular street food restaurants of Beirut!

Beirut streets are overflowing with tasty and flavourful foods, and filul is your ticket to them (short of hopping on a plane to Lebanon). As soon as you step inside filful, you know you’re somewhere special, somewhere where the old and the modern come together for an authentic experience like no other. The scenery, the staff and of of course, the food…you’ll never want to leave!

Oh the food…you know what we’re talking about. The kind that you dream of all day long, mouth watering until you can finally have them….shawarma, Foul wa Hummus, Manakeesh bi Zaatar, Beid bi Awarma…

But the real attraction is the filful or chilli… the strongman of that delectable street food… the one accompaniment that makes all the difference. You sometimes wonder whether anything will taste the same without it, not that you ever want to try of course.

Let filful spice up your life, to give you a taste of the days and nights on the city streets. Wake up to the Mankousheh bi Zaatar, or refuel for a night on the town with a Shawarma sandwich, both with filful, of course, filful-style!

Review

Filful is an eccentric looking angular joint placed centrally to boxpark. It claims to be a contemporary twist on authentic Lebanese/Beiruti food! The joint is primarily colored in blue and red hues, that does give it a very fresh vibe! The have a very small indoor area, a decent enough outdoor space which is excellent, but they also have an upstairs area where I believe sheesha is served!

We had a baby with us, and it was sad that they had no baby chairs to accommodate him. The staff took their own sweet time to clear the table that we chose to sit on and then disappeared. It was a good 15 mins before we spotted someone and asked them to get us the menu!

Food

After finally settling down, and grabbing our servers attention we were handed the menus, that were styled like newspapers, except with the menu on it as opposed to the news! Cute.

We started with some Lemon-mint fresher without the sugar obviously for the women, and although it was too tart for my taste, they seemed to be loving it.

We kept it basic for the rest of the menu and ordered classics,
Fattet Hummous:
Boiled chickpeas, garlic yogurt, fried bread, cumin and pine nuts.

I doubt I know someone who is not a fan of this dish! The chicken version is way better according to me, but the veg is not too bad either! Our relatives from India loved it and were actually relieved to realize there is something more to Lebanese cuisine than, hummous even is its another variation of Hummous.
Shish Tawook:
Marinated cubes of chicken, served with garlic paste, fries and bread

All time favorite. It is hard to mess this one, so we always order this. Filful version disappointed us, by being extremely dry and non-flavourful. Even the accompanied garlic paste did nothing for it. Sad.
Shawerma Plate:
Chicken shards, bread and garlic paste.

Sadly, our chicken experience here just would not get itself right. This chicken too was dried up and super oily. We tried the paste and then we even tried hot sauce, but nothing would change the quality or even mask it a tad bit.

Verdict

The standard of the food is generally good but nothing is above average. While the staff is friendly, the service can be a bit overbearing at times! Although this fun-looking joint is open 24 hours, it is definitely not a bad choice for a quick bite of light Beiruti goodness at random hours. We would definitely come back if we are in the vicinity for some redemption with maybe some kibbeh's or manakish.

About

Café Vienna prides itself on being able to provide fresh, mouthwatering meals and taking its patrons on a culinary journey every time they visit. Artisan designed salads and sandwiches are available from the counter, and a customer can design their own sandwich or salad to their liking, whether its kale and quinoa packed with nutritious veggies or a garlic aioli topped on your chicken tikka wrap.

The exciting menu offers all day signature breakfasts, including classic indulgent items such as pancakes and waffles, as well as ultra innovative healthy dishes such as mung bean lentil pancakes.

Review

Walking the fine line between fine dining and casual, Café Vienna seems to blend both formalities absolutely seamlessly which makes it universal for just about anyone. The simplistic yet elegant phrase has never been more relevant, from the décor; lighting and even furniture gives the overall atmosphere a futuristic vibe. It’s not just the look and feel of the place but their diverse menu as well, bringing together elements of gourmet, fine dining with casual options like pizza’s and burgers. It’s mesmerizing what they have able to accomplish here and is a fine entry for the Business Bay locale.

Ambiance

The atmosphere is perfect for any occasion and that’s the reason why I think the overall concept is absolutely brilliant. Not only is it bright and cheerful, i is warm and inviting as well. They have a massive space which gives it a feeling of openness. It’s simplistic enough for a casual visit with friends or family and elegant/upscale enough for a business lunch/dinner or better yet, you could just segue throughout the day!

Beverages

Lemon Iced Tea:

Refreshing and went perfectly with the tofu burger. To be honest, iced tea would go with just about anything. Iced tea could do no harm.
Mango Smoothie:

They were out of the Date Smoothie that I ordered, so had to substitute it with this. Thick, heavy, creamy and tasty with less sugar, just the way it should be.
Mint Lemonade:

Wife likes her drinks without sugar, They had a pre-mixed mint lemonade with sugar so the chef was kind enough to make a fresh mint-lemonade without sugar on the spot. Refreshing and Beautiful.

Food

Sweet Potato Fries:

Sweet Potato Fries that were crisp and not overcooked. I kept chugging those throughout my meal. It was different and absolutely scrumptious!
Tandoori Tikka Melt:

In between the perfectly toasted house-made bread slices, a guilty amount of chicken tikka coated with spicy Indian dressing invites all Indian food lovers who look for the classic dish of chicken tikka with a twist.

Tofu Burger:

I was not a tofu fan, but this burger had me converted. I was initially skeptical about this but after the chef told us that it was one of their specialties i felt rather adventurous and asked him to bring it on! After the first bite I knew this was the only way I would ever eat tofu. I could only imagine the ball tofu fans would have with this one.
Grilled Chicken:

The grilled chicken was done well with the accompanying gravy adding that extra oomph to the dish. The greens that you see in the picture is not a spoilt brocolli, it is in fact a different variation of cabbage. Health freaks are going to love this dish. The portions are huge so you can easily share the dish too.
Nasi Goreng:

Hands down one of the very best Nasi Gorengs in Dubai. This is one of my top favorite dishes and I was on a hunt for good Nasi Goreng that was repeatable. And hey, I have  found it here after all these years. in one word this dish was just perfect. Even the egg on top was just right. Bear in mind, the dish is extremely spicy so if you can;t take spice, inform the chef/server beforehand. The only thing that wasn't right was the accompanying peanut sauce which was creamy and very different than what I am used to.

Cafe Vienna offers everything one could expect from a good fine dining entity and it just so happens to have a very comforting and friendly atmosphere. When it comes to their food, serving sizes are enormous and well worth of those hard earned bucks of yours because its just that darn good! What more could you ask for?

About

Not a pizza, not a flatbread, PINZA is in a class all of its own. Pinza is the modern foodie’s answer to a wholesome – and ridiculously delicious – hand-kneaded crust. Nourishing, wholesome and completely irresistible, Pinza is on a mission to introduce their uniquely healthful menu to Dubai’s community of thinkers, do-ers and lovers of life.

Review

With the overabundance of pizza joints in Dubai, it’s difficult for newer establishments to stand out from the already flourished market. While a lot of these new joints have tried to become a carbon copy of their successors thus failing to make their own mark, Pinza, refreshingly, is not among them and is of its own breed. Adapting a healthier concept already distinguishes itself from the likes of Pizza Hut, Pizza Inn or Domino’s, all the while taking nothing away in terms of taste.

The menu is diverse and unique with a wide range of selection for both the vegetarians and non-vegetarians that makes it ideal for just about anyone. Their distinctive ingredients make strong impressions in their lineup that is sure to be replicated by upcoming joints like the burrata and truffle. Overall, it’s just refreshing to witness and enjoy the perspective of someone that has a different viewpoint of what defines pizza for them, and then you feel the same way.

Ambiance

The place itself is nothing remarkable but that’s not something anyone should be concerned for. Pinza is idealistic for home/office deliveries and takeaways, not dine-in. Although, they do have benches for diners and its fairly spacious too. The lighting could use some work, the white lights give a very dull feel overall & should be replaced with something more warmer and inviting. Even the lights in the balloon shaped ornaments could replace for something dimmer to generate a cozier atmosphere.

Food

Since we wanted to try a lot of items from the menu with a limited eating capacity, we went in for half and half pinza's. Please note these are not available to order as its practically impossible to do this especially during peak hours. This was made specially for our tasting session. But you can definitely go in for the full Pinza's. Following is our order:

Burrata Salad:

Not much to say here except that they made it healthy AND fun. Also, the burrata cheese was light and tasty.
URTHIE:
Tomato Sause, Mozzarella, Caramelized Onions with Balsamic Vinegar, Potatoes and Rosemary.

If you’re a vegetarian and have complaints with pizza joints not having a good variety of vegetarian options, this is what you’re looking for. With just enough experimentation going on here, this is superior to your traditional run of the mill veggie pizza.
PINZAFIED MARGHERITA:
Tomato Sauce, Cherry Tomato, Burrata, Basil.

Burrata, Burrata, Burrata! This Italian cheese is unlike any and completely stole the show for us. The soft texture of the cheese was absolute bliss. You don’t find this quality at any of your big brands.
TRUFFLE GOODNESS:
Mozzarella, Truffle, Parsley, Portobello Mushrooms

Truffles are some of the most expensive forms of food there is and world famous chefs claim it to be the “diamond of the kitchen”. The Truffle and Mushrooms mesh so well together here to form a unique and strong taste, delectable yet the same.
VEGGIELICIOUS:
Tomato Sauce, Olives, Mozzarella, Portobello Mushrooms, Green, Red & Yellow Peppers

Nothing exquisite about the Veggielicious Pinza here, it's kind of generic and expected but it's most definitely a safe bet and go to option for vegetarians who are all too familiar with these ingredients at this point.
PEPPERONI:
Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Pepperoni Salami

I love Pepperoni and it was nice to see a unique version of the same. Sure, they haven;t re-invented the wheel here but the Pepperoni tasted crisp and heavenly without the excessive oil that the other joints across Dubai love to add.
SPIZY:
Mozzarella, Wagyu Sausage, Portobello Mushrooms, Caramelized Onion Chili Flakes, Fennel Seeds

This was a surprise combination too. Love what they have tried here with the wagyu beef ,although we were too full by this point, the pizza thankfully wasn't all that heavy. Now that is saying something.
Chicken Tikka:

Chicken Tikka, Omani Jalapenos, Onions.

Not on their regular menu. This was by far the spiciest pizzas's I have ever eaten. And I am used to spice. The Omani Jalapenos were a real surprise and left my tongue and even lips burning for a few minutes. If you can take some spice definitely go for this one. But we very careful of them Jalapenos.
NUTELLA W/BANANA & SOLO:

This was simply bound to happen and it is every bit as good as you’d think. Nutella and Banana is a match made in heaven and boy did we get a taste of heaven! Just wish this was served in cinema houses across the country!

Verdict

We live in a world where being good is just not enough, we need to characterize everything and then standout from the masses and that’s exactly what Pinza is. From their unconventional menu, freshness of newer & healthier ingredients, well balanced pizzas and downright quality of the product you pay for, Pinza is a winner all around.
