Valid from  Mon, 9 May, 2016 To Thu, 7 Jul, 2016

Tresind is a conspicuous house-hold name by now, thanks to its elaborate or shall we say dramatic presentation and excellent quality of the food!  I will not lie, the first time we went there- it was supposed to be a bank meeting/dinner, but everyone was so floored by the theatrics with the food that we never discussed anything that wasn’t something coming out of the Tresind kitchen! Its almost like a little live TV show where the chef explains exactly whats happening to the molecules of our food and how it will be different from anything or any version of the same food we’ve ever tasted!

So, of course we were thrilled when Tresind emailed us about wanting our opinion on their Iftar and Suhoor menu for this years upcoming Ramadan! We gladly accepted the invite and sashay-ed our way on a Sunday evening! We were a bit late because you know #dubailife, but luckily we had just missed the introduction which of the first platter that was kept on the table! Quickly we mingled our way to find us seats, said our hellos to the the other various bloggers present on the long table, and dug in!
The welcome platter was a rectangular wooden fence concept that looked really cute! It included:

Popping-Candy Dates:
YES! I mean the plain old dates with just some dry fruits is so 2015, Treisind upped its game by adding popping candy to it! None of us on the table had a clue so it was such an exciting surprise!

Spicy Edamame:
Who doesn’t love edamame? Toss them in some spices and its the tastes and most healthiest snack around !
Saffron Flavoured Milk:
Quite random, I thought at first because we generally don’t indulge in milk whilst eating or before eating our food, nonetheless we tried it and it was gorgeous! Thankfully, it wasn’t as sweet as we were expecting and just good enough with its flavour! Makes sense as a part of the first few things people fasting would indulge in to give the instant energy!
Stuffed Kumquats:
So kumquats are of the lesser-known fruits and I wasn’t surprised when people on the table mistook it to be a baby orange! So, wifey and i grabbed one each excited by the fruit only to discover that it was filled with a fine paste of foie gras and chicken! Again, a high energy food and it tasted spectacular!
We noticed our servers getting tumblers of dry ice towards our table, so we sat up and got ready for the theatrics to begin!

Step 1: Really tall glass laid out with some mixed dry fruits in it
Step 2: The dry ice is loaded in to the glass
Step 3: Something resembling an orange juice is then poured resulting in all the drama of the dry ice to sublimate and cause the “fog effect” and in turn carbonate out OJ! #impressive
Next came an army of appetizers which were exceeding our expectations of the food by the second. It started with some,

Creamy Mushrooms:
Literally like its name, these were button mushrooms prepared in a rich, creamy and peppery brown sauce! It was topped with some broken pieces of walnut that gave us that crunch that this near perfect dish lacked!
Eggplant Salad:
Now, even though i didn’t try it, i was impressed just by its presentation! This one was served on a wooden platter and it consisted of roasted eggplant, some cilantro stems, pomegranate and was dressed in what i believe was a citrusy dressing. There were some edible orchids as well scattered in there and they added to the colour range of platter! Gorgeous!
Buttered Quinoa:
Another Vegetarian winner! It felt like a modern take on the classic Indian dish called Poha, which is made with rice flakes! This was obviously a much more nutritious option and a special mention to how charismatically each dish is presented! The chef definitely had a vision and it was impressive to see that multiple servings of the same dish had no discrepancies in terms of their look! commendable!
Lamb Koftas:
My absolute favourite for the night! The kaftan were super soft and full of flavour presented in a bite size portion and topped with a little dollop of green chutney! So damn cute. These literally got over in minutes after being presented, so much so that a 2-3 year old baby on our side of the table devoured them too! Clear winner!
Mongolian Beef:
It was a welcome change to the otherwise Indian/Arabic theme to our dinner, with its crispiness and oriental flavours! We had no qualms about the taste aspect of the food here, its just the presentation excited us every time! This one too was served topped with a few funky petals and greens making it look appetizing !!
Corn on the Cob:
No description needed here! This was exactly what you would expect it to be- buttery, tangy and juicy!

Tempura Chillies:
So different and so satisfying for someone who loves spicy food and is a vegetarian! These red and green chillies, were carefully deseeded and friend to crispiness in a thick tempura batter! It got some classic reactions on the table by people and was one of the favourites especially since it was topped with barbecue sauce that got a variety to the otherwise spicy dish!

Chicken Keema-Pao:
This was one of my favourites of the night! The chicken kheema they served us wasn’t fancy or had any faff but it got all its points for the excellent flavour it had! The spices and the chicken were slow cooked to perfection lending the dish enough time to inculcate the flavours and yet remain scrumptious! Kudos to the chef for such an awesome preparation!
By the time we got to the main courses, we were quite stuffed. The variety was even more than we thought possible.

Yes, plural! There were SO many different kinds of biryani! There was beef, lamb, shrimp and vegetarian! we were almost overwhelmed by the varieties that kept coming in back-to-back! Each of them was consistent with the taste and the presentation of the “dum” cover being a crispy flour roti which they broke and dug into for the servings! Buttery rice and succulent meat with all of them!! The lamb biryani was definitely my favourite of the lot. Guess I like things traditional!
Malabar Prawn Curry:
Another excellent dish! We were served some assorted rotis as well to try the curry that so well cooked and managed to maintain the integrity of the fish! Its very easy for a fillet to break while cooking or it to be overcooked! But, you can make out there was an experienced hand behind the utensil!
Laal Maas:
This one is a time-honoured dish! One cannot go wrong with it and as far as i know its an absolute favourite of the meat lovers in Dubai! Perfectly slow cooked with big chunks of meat almost falling off the bone simmered in a spicy yet tangy gravy, the thought of which still makes my mouth salivate! It was truly exceptional!!

Beef Short Ribs:
My heart literally jumped with joy when this dish was presented! Juicy ribs in a creamy brown sauce and some generous dollops of mashed potato made this dish a whole! It was one of the favourite mains for me!
Lamb Nihari:
It was the first time my wife tried a nihari and i think she found her new favourite Indian dish! It was exceptionally good and so full of flavour that i believe even the non Indian couldn’t stop eating it irrespective of the spice level of it! Absolute favourite main!
Tandoori Seafood Platter:
SO MUCH SEAFOOD. This was one generous serving of seafood, in a traditional Indian tandoori flavour which was extremely unusual but at the same time collaborated really well!
Palate Cleanser:
This was literally a quenelle of kulfi, that did get us ready for the yum dessert that was lined up for us!
Dessert Platter:
Beautiful presentation again, this platter was a mixture of classic Indian desserts like the gulab jamun, rasogulla, assorted mithais - very eloquently presented and topped with edible gold foil! #Royal.
