Memory Lane, Dubai Marina

Memory Lane Restaurant not only believe in fulfilling the desire of taste, but also of the mind, body and soul through healthy food. They prepare their food with the finest ingredients selected with utmost care and love of home cooked meal. Their meditative music is meant to soothe your mind and to heighten your senses to enjoy the food with all its flavours and aroma. Their plants, over 1500 of them, exude the aura and freshness of outdoor nature. Their glass partitioned kitchen enables you to watch your food while it is being prepared. They invite you to embark on a memorable experience that will satisfy the deepest desires of your palate.


Memory Lane invite itself was so warm and personal, that we thought we should definitely try these guys out. Luckily for us they are placed in Marina which is like spitting distance for us, so we straightened our schedules and and our way there.  

For a restaurant to decide taking the multi cuisine route is a very tricky and difficult path considering specialization in mind. Lets be honest here, the first thought that crosses anyone’s mind when deciding on a restaurant is “What cuisine is the restaurant?” and saying multi cuisine may be a turn off for most people. It’s a very common misconception amongst people that a restaurant associated to a particular cuisine is only good at tackling that cuisine and everything else is experimental.  Although that maybe the case for quite a few restaurants, Memory Lane is not among them.

​Memory Lane refuses to bound itself by a cuisine and decides to take the high road with their vast menu that covers a majority of the Asian offerings. The depth in their menu will leave you spoilt for choices. It’s not just their menu,  the price tags that go along with it is the most pocket friendly I’ve seen at a location like Dubai Marina. This may have been a tasting session but we did more than just taste their food, we savored it. Having tried a mixture of their gargantuan menu, its safe to say not a single cuisine is to be discarded. There is something for everyone here and always something to counter to your fussiness about food.
Judging by their prices, one might cheekily ask, “so, what’s the catch here?” and from our experience there were no compromises whatsoever, sheer diligence. The interiors are something to marvel at too, accomplishing elegance through simplicity while the lighting and instrumental music sets the relaxation mood. If my words are not stressing this enough already, Memory Lane is a rare gem in this city that defines value for money with impeccable quality. 

Food + Drinks

It was quite interesting that our session here was not just about the food, but also became about some family values connected to the food and how it was incepted and what makes it stand out. We were famished and the menu seemed unending. The restaurant menu is divided into 3 parts serving different cuisines all together namely Indian cuisine, Indo-chinese and Paleo which offers a bunch of grilled varieties. Lucky for us we were joined by the owner of the place who walked us through the menu in brief and selected dishes to order based our likes and wishes. 

For The Table:
We had some KimChi and Roasted Papad rolls served a pre-appetizers- which we gobbled of course! But we did see it was mentioned how kimchi opens up ones appetite, getting the eater ready for their meal. (in our case, the million dishes we were about to try)


Very Berry Mojito:

Cranberry and apple mojito with mint leaves, topped with ginger ale made for a super refreshing drink and tasted splendid.
​Summer Peach Cup:
This freshly brewed green tea with peach was a tropical treat. While my taste buds were on a rollercoaster with all the different dishes, a sip of this here and there was soothing and refreshing. 


​Paneer Maharaja:
Cottage cheese stuffed with grated cheese, herbs and special spices. Yet another splendid paneer offering that was creamy and pounding with flavor. 
Steamed Chicken Momo's:

If you've been following our blog, you will know about my wife's obsession with momo's, so obviously she loved them and ate the most too. She said the filling was refreshingly yum as opposed to the bland stuff you get outside. Must try!
​Mushrooms Salt & Pepper:
Crispy fried mushrooms drizzled over by salt and pepper. Mushrooms were tender and churned out the best possible flavors without letting the crispiness take over. 
​Sweet Corn Soup:
Not realizing the blissful joyride I was about to experience, I started off with a safe opener. The soup was hot and flavorful, could not have gone wrong with this one. 
Tofu in Chilli Basil Sauce:

Crispy fried tofu tossed in spicy sauce might be a regular affair but, for the tofu to still maintain its integrity needs a master chef! This one was exquisite. 
Mutton Galauti Kebab:

Mutton mince marinated in special Lakhnowi  spices and hand rolled into kebabs and seared on the pan. There were so amazingly presented on top of an Indian flat bread and the kebabs themselves were completely melt-in-mouth variety! Not a lot of restaurants serve galauti but Memory Lane not6 only does them but excels at it as well.. 
Chicken Satay:

Succulent chicken skewers, these were served with an "award winning" satay sauce o the side. This one was different from the regular peanut sauces and it really complimented the chicken. Loved it.
Kebab "Taster" Platter:

We did not want to  miss out on their best offerings whilst we also did not want to pass out from overeating, so we asked if they could reduce the portions to a minimum and we can try different things. 

Here they gave us:
Chicken Tikka: So spicy, so yummy.
Chicken Hariyali: Chcken marinated in spicy green marinade.
Chicken Reshmi: This one was marinated in heavy cream and some spices and was the most delectable of the lot.
​Paneer Tikka:

Fresh cottage cheese marinated in yoghurt and grounded spices. One of the safer bets, although the freshness and softness of the paneer caught me completely off guard. Anything paneer here is pure bliss. 
Tandoori Prawns:

Absolutely toothsome. These were sent out by the chef himself just for us to try and we are convinced that these guys definitely take the cake for the best tandoori praws in town. Hands down.
Vegetarian Galauti Kebab:

​Kebab offering infiltrated with minced vegetables and special Lucknowi spices. Soft and succulent just like all of their paneer offerings with the right amount of spice that is just enough of a thrill for minimal spice tolerant individuals
Butter Chicken:

Refreshingly this version was not sweet but spicy and full of zing. It did not feel too heavy on consumption either which is amazing considering the preparation base is butter and cashew paste. A true Indian style curry.  
​Kadhai Paneer:
Fresh cottage cheese stir fried with bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, spring onion and seasoned with black pepper. Well rounded dish that had everything going for it, the soft paneer to the spicy and tangy gravy all along with the glistening naan breads.

Vegetarian Schezwan Noodles:

Just like momos my wife has a thing for noodles, so it was really hard getting this dish away from her.. just kidding! But this was a perfect example of hakka noodles tossed in spicy schezwan sauce. Divine. 
Burnt Garlic Fried Rice With Chicken:

Who does not like burnt garlic with anything? This was our safest yet most favoured dish on the table. A very very good version! 


Memory Lane Dessert:

Even though it looks like an "Eton Mess" its not. This dessert although not on the menu is one of the owners favourite. Its basically a crispy pancake filled with a banana and coconut filling, served with a side of chocolate ice cream topped with buts and strawberries. It was indeed something different and refreshing.

​Fair pricing is nearly non-existent in this city let alone at a locale like Dubai Marina, until now. Memory Lane is the embodiment of what restaurants strive to become, be able to offer competitive pricing, quality experience and a diverse menu. Somehow someway Memory Lane is able to offer all of that and more. A recommendation goes without saying, but beyond that, Memory Lane deserves all the success that comes its way.
